Morning Rituals for Optimal Health


So, like many of us, your morning routine may include washing-up your face, brushing teeth, taming wild hair; oil-pulling if oral-health conscious?! What, I want you to do as your health coach; after you crawl out of your bed and do the above mentioned rituals, is to, add-up the following simple things into your before you get ready to face the world-routine.


Now that you have done your regular hygiene stuff; it’s time for you to monitor and check your body, for subtle imbalances. Okay, by doing the following steps; you will get an insight into what’s going on inside of your body. Plus, these few minutes added, to your morning-routine, will be hugely beneficial for your quest for optimal health.

1.       Monitor the color of your tongue.

Okay, before you move away from the mirror, check out the color of your tongue. Whether it’s light pink or dark red? The shade of the tongue is a superb marker for the amount of inflammation present in your body. So, you may ask, what to notice? If it’s dark red, it’s means your body is highly inflamed. Ideally, it should be lighter shade of pink. So, you notice dark red, it’s high time to start anti-inflammatory diet

2.       Now, check your eyes.

It’s time to look into your eyes and see, whether the whites of your eyes are bloodshot, yellowish or white and clear? If they are bloodshot, you should be worried about inflammation, stress or fatigue; if they are yellow; I suggest you go for a detox as it points towards toxins and chemicals build-up.  While white and clear are the ones you should be targeting for.

3.       Check the feel and taste of your mouth.

If you have a white gunk build-up, in or around the corners or a unusually strong breath,  this may be a red flag that something is out of whack.  You may be struggling with food sensitivity or a buildup of toxins in the body. Otherwise, slightly sour morning mouth is fairly normal.

4. Examine your poop.

Most people prefer to flush before they check out what’s in the toilet bowl. But wait! Your bowel movements are an excellent way to gain some insight into how things are going inside your body. It’s best; you have one to three normal bowel movements per day. Here’s a detailed Info-graphic to help you out!


5. Observe your skin.

As you’re washing your face and moisturizing your body, observe your skin and watch for any changes or irritation. If you notice anything unusual you may be able to identify or prevent more serious internal health issues.

6.  Test your pH.

If you have an extra moment in the morning, get out your litmus paper and to test your pH. Use either saliva or urine (the second pee of the day will give you a more accurate reading).  You should look for neutral pH, ideally. As overly alkaline or overly acidic body can cause a variety of physical ailments. Normally, the standard Pakistani diet, focuses on acidifying foods like sugar, dairy, grains and proteins. If you get an acidic pH reading, I suggest you to eat more alkaline-based foods like veggies and dark leafy greens.

Cleansing Day Special


Our bodies and minds are continuously processing thoughts, emotions, food, and drink. In our 100 miles-per-minute world, we can easily feel overwhelmed.

I’d advise you to take one day off every week or month to clear and stop the physical and mental strain.

Here are 5 tips on how to create a spa cleansing day at home:

1) Take a Technology Break

• Make it a low-tech day. Keep your computer, television, and cellphones turned off.
• Get a skipping rope
• Stretch at home
• Attend a yoga class in your neighborhood
• Go for a walk in the park and find a quiet place and try some meditation.

2) Try Tongue Scraping

Begin your cleansing day by scraping your tongue gently. According to Ayurveda, “ama” is tongue coating which reflects metabolic debris. Moreover, these tongue scrapers can be easily bought from a local pharmacy very cheaply and they are best to remove ama toxins and thick tongue coatings.

3) Take Special Care of Your Body

Do exfoliation by using a soft, natural bristle dry brush. It helps to eliminate dead skin and bad toxins via the skin. All you need is to use this brushing technique starting from the feet towards heart and stomach before taking a “contrast shower”.

“Contrast shower” is ideal to boost energy and blood circulation. Take bath with comfortably warm water for “3 minutes” followed by cold water by less than “1 minute”. This hot and cold cycle is repeated in the same sequence. For example:
3 minutes hot, 1 minutes cold, 3 minutes hot, 1 minute cold etc. Finish this bath with cold water.

4) Detox Your Body

• If you are coffee drinker, then simply replace green tea with coffee for that special cleansing day.
• Drink plenty of water.
• Ginger tea is an excellent cleansing tea add the juice of a lemon wedge and you are done especially for winter season.
• Prepare yourself a healthy alkaline cleansing broth to improve enzyme and cellular metabolism, general cleansing, and detox.

Alkaline Cleansing Broth Recipe:


• 1 zucchini (small in size)
• 2 cups organic potato peels (red-skinned in color, 1 inch thick)
• 3 cups celery stalk
• 2 cups broccoli heads
• 2 cups spinach
• 2 liters distilled water


• Cut all the veggies into small pieces.
• Put them in the water with the cover on and bring to a boil it.
• Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 25 minutes.
• Strain the broth and drink.
• This broth can be kept in fridge for 3 days and you can also make it in bulk and freeze it for later use.

5) Cleanse Your Mind

On your cleansing day, try to take steps to free yourself of the past worries and hurts that continue to live with you. Begin a personal ritual, like writing a letter (you don’t have to mail it!) to get out all your feelings. Or purchase a beautiful journal to give yourself a regular outlet for all your worries, regrets, and emotions. Don’t avoid these emotions. Harness them and move on as a smarter person.

There are many laws and many rules on planet Earth, which if followed sincerely, can be extremely beneficial to our lives. Here are few golden rules of life, which will simply amaze you by it positive life changing results!

o No one can ever be in charge of your happiness, but you, as only you are solely responsible for all that happens to you. Because you are Master of your destiny.

o Enjoy whatever you have right now and start by wearing your favorite clothes. Don’t save them for any special festive occasion because today is special and the festive occasion you are looking forward to is right here— right now. Is there any guarantee that you will even take your next breath?

o It is never ever too late to enjoy your childhood. But to be a child again and be care-free as only a child can be, is simply up to you and no one else.

o No matter how bad a situation may seem today, it will surely change tomorrow. And definitely for better, not worse.

o Time heals everything and there is simply nothing that time does not heal. Just give some time to work things out.

o Others opinion about yourself should make no impact on you. All that matters is what you think about yourself.

o Life does not come packed in a beautiful gift-box, but it is the greatest and most beautiful gift for all.

o If you were to throw your problems in a sea, along with all the other people problems, you will immediately pick back yours, as you will feel that your problems are just a few drops in the vast ocean, when compared to other people.

o All that really matters in the end is that you had the opportunity to experience the joy and pain of love. Neither pain is constant, nor is joy, only love is the only element that is constant and always remains the same.

o Finally, always remember, the best is yet to come.Yes, it is the fact which most people overlook. The best is always, yet to come. If you don’t believe me simply look back at the last 10 years of your life. See where you were 10 years back, see where the world was 10 year ago. And then honestly look where you are today, where the world is today, and where you possibly could be tomorrow or 10 years from now, if “TODAY”, you begin applying these 10 life rules.
